ENGLISH
Prima facie, the language section of IIFT 2016 appeared to follow the broad contours of typical IIFT entrance paper, though some new elements like a ‘crossword’ was thrown in.

There were four passages for reading and comprehension; all of them were followed by fairly direct questions leaving out any confusion about either semantics or structure.

Etymology and spellcheck required some intelligent guessing and so were doable.

The cloze test hardly came close to testifying the vocabulary pool of a student seriously preparing for CAT, although the idiom based questions were slightly tricky. But then we natives always find idiomatic English exotic for our taste.

GK AND CURRENT AFFAIRS

The G.K section this year was again on predictable lines with a few tweaking here and there.

The evergreen tables (Match the following), which have become a trademark of the IIFT paper, were definitely there and so were the questions on sports and books and authors.

Then the questions based on current events and the business world as well as some staple questions history and polity were to be seen, apart from one question as a Bollywood Tadka.

Overall, the section was moderate in its difficulty and clearing the cut off would not pose any hassle to a serious aspirant.

DATA INTERPRETATION AND REASONING ABILITY

In IIFT 2016, almost all the sets in DI were a little calculative. Overall the DI section was easy to moderate and same was the case with the Reasoning part of this section. Though there were 5-6 sitters in this overall section, these sitters were camouflaged in lengthy text. There were a couple of questions which could be done by just looking at the options carefully. Overall this section was moderate.
