For more than 60 years, India’s oldest business school XLRI (Xavier Labor Relations Institute) aka Xavier School of Management has been conducting XAT at all India level to select the most appropriate students for management education, on behalf of the Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI). 

Almost 100 institutes across India including XLRI accept the XAT scores. On the basis of XAT score, students are shortlisted and are put through Group Discussion (GD) and Interview processes.

XAT 2017 Pattern:
​XAT 2017 paper consisted of two sections.

Section I had a total 72 questions to be done in 170 minutes. This section consisted of ​three sections

(i) Verbal and Logical Ability

(ii) Decision Making

(iii) Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation.

Section II had 25 questions of General Knowledge to be done in 25 minutes, but the marks of General Knowledge were not to be added in the score at the first stage of selection. ​​An essay was to be written in 10 minutes.

There was a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer, other than this in XAT 2016, there was a change that students had a choice of not attempting 12 questions. Beyond this, every unattempted question carried ​a negative mark of 0.05.
